Description
Join us for our Annual Diversity Luncheon: Thinking Differently - Understanding explicit & implicit biases and the impact of preferences on business.
Guest Speaker and Presenter - Dionardo Pizana; Diversity and Personnel Specialist at MSU Extension and Justin S. Morrill Hall of Agriculture will highlight and talk about Exploring Cultural Competency for Personal, Organizational and Community Change.
This learning opportunity is grounded in an underlying principle that cultural competency is not simply a process of learning about "others", but rather a lifelong journey that begins with learning about ourselves.
Participants will be exposed to a continuum for cultural competency to explore and understand issues of diversity, equity and social justice at the personal, interpersonal, institutional and cultural levels. We will also explore how conscious and unconscious bias and stereotypes can cause barriers that work against our desires to create more socially just and equitable outcomes and communities for all.
